Robert Harold Roberts was the station master at Woodlesford for most of the the 1930s. He came with his wife Mary and four children from Rhewl in North Wales in 1929. Unfortunately he had to retire early in 1938 after he fell at work and later suffered a stroke. Mr Roberts' son Cyril was 5 when the family arrived in Woodlesford and he grew up taking an active part in the life of the station. During World War II he served in the Navy and later went on to a career on the railways. Before he passed away aged 82 in 2008, Cyril reminsced about his days at the station.
